You sit in the helicopter with Director Fury. As you are being taught by him this week, you have to go everywhere with him, which never pleases him. At least it had been decided you don’t need to be taught by that blockhead Thor. You much prefer the weeks with Steve and Phil, but still enjoyed the week with Tony (mostly because he doesn’t train you. The both of you play in his special game room when he isn’t working.) The weeks with Agent Romanov and Agent Barton are just boring and Dr. Banner refuses to work with you (not because he doesn’t like you, he just avoids people whenever possible. You can understand that.) But you aren’t with any of them right now. You are with the Director, and he just has you follow him around, not teaching you anything. The helicopter lands and you step out after him.

“How bad is it?” asks Director Fury.

Phil responds, “That’s the problem sir. We don’t know.”

As they turn to go inside, Phil gives you a smile. He knows that this is your first time at the Tesseract Base, and you can tell he is worried. His smile says that if anything goes wrong, everyone in the building will die, and he cares about your safety. As you all head into the building, you get a strange feeling. You get these feelings a lot, but you choose to ignore it.

“Doctor Selveg read an energy surge from the Tesseract four hours ago,” says Phil.

“I didn’t authorize Selveg to go to test phase,” interrupts Fury.

“Selveg wasn’t testing it. He wasn’t even in the room. Spontaneous event,” replies Phil.

The Agent following us (I never bothered to learn her name) says, “It just turned itself on?”

“Where are the energy levels now?” questions Fury.

“Climbing,” says Phil. “When Selveg couldn’t shut it down, we ordered evac.”

Fury looks worried, and says, “How long to get everyone out?”

Phil, already prepared for the inquiry replies, “Campus should be clear in the next half hour.”

“Do better,” says the Director. With this Coulson begins to walk away, giving you a small smile that says ‘Be careful. I worry about you.’ You pause for a second, wondering if you would be allowed to follow Coulson, but Fury only says, without a glance over his shoulder, “Keep up (y/n),” so you can only follow, hoping you will see Coulson again.

As we walk down some stairs, what’s-her-bucket says, “Sir? Evacuation may be futile.”

“We should tell them to go back to sleep?” the Director sarcastically replies.

Regaining her courage, the Agent counters, “If we can’t control the Tesseract’s energy, there may not be a minimum safe distance.”

“I need you to make sure the Phase Two prototypes are shipped out,” says the Director, quickly changing the subject.

The Agent looks confused, and inquires, “Sir? Is that really a priority right now?”

Director Fury turns around, looks her in the eye, and says, “Until such time as the world ends we will act as though it intends to spin on. Clear out the tech below. Every piece of phase to on a truck and gone.” We stop at what you presume is the door to the room where they test the Tesseract. The Agent looks rather hurt and put in her place.

“Yes, Sir,” she says as she walks away.
‘And that is why you aren’t in charge,’ you think to yourself as you walk into the room after Fury. You can tell he is impatient.

“Talk to me Doctor,” he says as he strides into the room.

“Director,” says the good Doctor Selveg as he walks over.

Fury questions, “Is there anything we know for certain?”

“The Tesseract is misbehaving,” answers Selveg.

The Director looks at him with a very serious face and says, “Is that supposed to be funny?”

“No, it’s not funny at all. The Tesseract is not only active, she’s… behaving,” says Selveg. You can’t quite understand how an inanimate object could misbehave. But then you wonder, ‘What if it isn’t intimate. What if it’s… alive somehow?’

The Director fires off another question. “How soon can we pull the plug?”

Selveg looks exasperated, and replies, “She’s an energy source! We turn off the power she turns it back on. If she reaches peak level…”

The Director cuts him off with, “You’re prepared for this Doctor, harnessing energy from space.”

“We don’t have the harness. My calculations are far from complete,” says Selveg. “She’s throwing off interference. Radiation. Nothing harmful, just low levels of Gamma Radiation.”

Both the Director and you look at Selveg as Fury replies, “That can be harmful.” He pauses for a second, then says, “Where’s Agent Barton?”

Selveg lets out a small chuckle before replying, “The Hawk? Up in his nest as usual.”

Fury pulls out his walkie-talkie and says into it, “Agent Barton. Report.” You see Clint slide down a rope from his nest. He walks over to us and Fury says, “I gave you this detail so you could keep a close eye on things.” We begin to walk back to the Tesseract.

“Well, I see better from a distance,” replies Barton.

“Have you seen anything that might set this thing off?” says Director Fury, pointing at the Tesseract.

A scientist looks up from her computer and says, “Doctor. It’s spiking again.” The feeling in the pit of your stomach that something big is about to happen grows with every second.

“Director?” you whisper.

He waves you off with a, “Not now (y/n).”

Agent Barton continues, “No one has come or gone, and Selveg is clean. No contacts, no IM’s.” We come to a halt in front of the Tesseract. “If there was any tampering, Sir, it wasn’t at this end.”

You look at him in surprise for a moment. “Director Fury? Sir?” you whisper a little louder.

The Director ignores you and says, “At this end?”

Barton looks at the Tesseract and replies, “Yeah. The cube is a doorway to the other end of space, right? Doors open from both sides.”

Just then you hear the Tesseract start to increase in energy and the computer alarm goes off as there is an earthquake. You, Fury, and Clint step back as a beam the same color as the Tesseract shoots from the other side, and creates a portal, through which you can see stars. As it closes, you see a figure kneeling in the center, holding a staff of some kind, and glowing with what looked like a fire the same color as the beam had been. The fire quickly died, and your hand automatically went for where your gun is supposed to be, but it isn’t there. Fury never lets you carry a gun when you are around him. You scan the room with your eyes and see a piece of pipe under a desk. If you need to, you can get over there to defend yourself. The man in the green and black outfit with black hair looks up, a mischievous and wicked smile on his face. Then he looks around and sees all the people with guns trained on him, and he looks confused. He stands in a slow, almost cat-like motion.

“Sir! Please put down the spear!” Fury calls over to him. The strange man looks at his spear for a moment, then looks up sharply, alerting you as to what he is about to do. He holds up his spear and fires a ball of the same strange blue light at us. Clint grabs Fury and dives as you dive in the opposite direction. You dive under the desk, grabbing, fumbling, and catching the pipe. The strange man is everywhere. He stabs men with the spear, fires the strange spear, and flings tiny daggers, effectively killing almost everyone. He pauses for a moment in the middle of the room, and you stand up, roll over the desk and come within hitting range, facing the man. You raise the pipe to swing, but as you look into his eyes, you just can’t. You falter for a second and prepare to strike again but to no avail. He looks at you with the same wicked grin and tightens his grip on the spear. ‘This is it. I’m going to die,’ you think to yourself, but he only touches the point of the spear to your chest and looks at you. When nothing happens, he looks confused. You make a decision, and drop the pipe. He looks utterly baffled as you stand straight at attention. You don’t know why, but you feel… connected to this man somehow. You know you cannot hurt him or even just do nothing to help, so you resolve to help him. You flick your eyes over to where Barton starts to get up, giving him a hint that you are on his side and he should go take care of Barton. He walks over to Clint and grabs his arm, making it so that Barton can’t move.

“You have heart,” he says in a strangely beautiful and attractive voice. He points the spear at Barton, touching his chest. Barton’s veins begin to turn blue, and as it reaches his eyes, they turn completely black before his iris turns the bright, glowing blue color. The green man smiles and walks over to another man.
When he finishes he says, “Please don’t.” You turn and see that Fury has the briefcase holding the Tesseract. “I still need that.”

“This doesn’t have to get any messier,” says the Director, trying to defuse the situation.

“Of course it does,” replies the man. “I’ve come too far for anything else. I am Loki, of Asguard, and I am burdened with glorious purpose.” Your brain makes the connection. This is Thor’s brother, Loki. The one that caused all that destruction in that small town.

Selveg gets up and says, “Loki, brother of Thor?” He got a dirty look from Loki for that one.

Fury, still trying to keep everything calm says, “We have no quarrel with your people.”

Loki simply looks at him and replies, “An ant has no quarrel with a boot.”

“Are you planning to step on us?” says the Director, looking surprised.

Loki smirks and says, “I bring glad tidings, of a world made free.”

“Free from what?” inquires Fury.

Loki simply states, “Freedom. Freedom is life’s great lie. Once you accept that in your heart,” here he turns and takes control of Selveg, “you will know peace.”
Fury looks at him with defiance and says, “Yeah. You say peace but I kinnda think you mean the other thing.”

Barton walks up to Loki and says, “Sir, Director Fury is stalling. This place is about to blow and drop a hundred feet of rock on us. He means to bury us.”

With a calm collected expression, Fury quips, “Like the pharos of old.”

“He’s right,” says Selveg. “The portal is collapsing in on itself. We have maybe two minutes before this goes critical.”

“Well then,” Loki says and looks at Barton. Clint raises his gun and shoots Fury. Strangely, that sort of made you almost feel happy inside. You all begin to walk to the exit. As you pass the Director, you see he is still alive and looking up. You look him in the eye, give a wink and a small smile, and keep walking. Your mind is made up, and you are willing to follow Loki. You get to the parking area. Clint says something in passing to what’s-her-bucket and you all get in. Loki sits it the bed of the truck while Clint and Selveg sit up front, Selveg holding the Tesseract case like his life depends on it, and you sit in the back. While Clint is getting in, he looks sharply back at the Agent woman. She is on her walkie-talkie.

He pulls out his gun and fires a few shots, but she evades and gets behind a wall. He quickly gets in, starts the truck, and starts driving. You hear a couple gun shots follow, and look back to make sure Loki is okay. You don’t know why, but you care about him… a lot. He is fine, and you see another car start to follow you. ‘Dang it!’ you think.

“Agent is following us,” you say to Clint and he looks in the rearview mirror. You look back again and there are several more cars now. Loki takes a shot and hits one of the cars. It rolls sideways, making it so the cars can’t pass through the small tunnel. ‘We’re going to make it!’ you think as you turn around. Just then, you see Agent Lady ahead of you. She makes it so she is driving backwards facing you, and the fronts of the cars collide. She and Barton both let off a few shots before she turns her car and gets behind us. You feel an earthquake as the base begins to collapse in on itself.
You watch as the falling stone catches up to the Agent lady’s car, successfully trapping her. You all get out of the tunnel just in time, and see a helicopter over-head. The door opens and you can see Fury pointing a gun at the car. A bullet makes it through the windshield, and gets you in the shoulder. You have never been shot before and the pain is excruciating! You can barely comprehend that Loki shoots down the helicopter. There is blood coming out of the wound and Selveg looks back at you.

“Don’t worry (y/n). You will be fine. It’s only a shoulder shot,” he says. You look back to see if Loki is alright, only to see him looking at you. You turn your head quickly, embarrassed to be caught looking. ‘It’s going to be a long drive,’ you think to yourself. You sit there for a moment clutching your shoulder. Suddenly, Loki appears right next to you.

“Let me see your shoulder,” he says in a harsh tone. You take your hand off the wound, allowing him to see.

“It came through the windshield, so it’s not as deep as it could have been,” you tell him. Loki gives a short nod and disappears again. You turn around and see him sitting in the back, staring at the distant inferno that was once a helicopter. You look at Barton and ask, “Where are we headed?”

He looks at you in the rear view mirror and says, “To an abandoned building Loki has already picked out. We’ll be there in half an hour.” You nod to him, assuring him you can make it till then, but you know that this is going to be the longest half hour of your life.

***

You pull up to the building and step out. You all walk inside. It looks dingy and old. Not dusty old, but a wet and moldy old. As you go farther into the building, Loki stops at the door to a room.

“I need a moment with the girl. You both go a little farther down and begin to set up,” he says. Barton and Selveg give short nods, and Selveg continues to clutch the Tesseract case close. As soon as they turn the next corner, Loki grabs you by the back of the neck, opens the door, and throws you inside. As you hit the wall, you try in vain to hold back a small moan. “Who are you? Why did you come? You are obviously not under my spell, and I wish to know how,” he bombards.

“My name is (y/n). I was being trained to be an agent at S.H.I.E.L.D.,” you reply. “And I don’t know why your… stick thingy didn’t work. It’s not my fault.” Loki grabs you by the throat and raises you to his eye level. You let go of your quickly healing bullet wound to clutch at his hands.

“But why are you here? Why DID YOU FOLLOW ME? Probably think you can get on my good side and strike when I’m not looking, right? RIGHT?” he yells. When he realizes you can’t answer without oxygen, he lets you fall to the floor. You gasp for air as he bends over and grabs your hair, pulling up slightly, forcing you to sit up and stare into his eyes. “And don’t you dare lie. If I hear a single lie cross your pretty lips, I won’t hesitate to crush your skull with my bare hands,” he threatens.

“Give me a second and I will show you,” you tell him. He lets go of your hair and you gingerly sit against the wall. You take in a breath and stick your fingers into the wound and dig for the bullet. The pain is almost unbearable. As you grab the small metal object causing the pain and wrench it out of your body, you let out a small groan of pain. It begins bleeding profusely so you lay your hand over it. You look up and see Loki staring at you. “Watch this,” you tell him. You concentrate for a moment and a white light comes from under the hand that grips the wound. It hurts so very badly as you begin to heal the wound. Finally the work is done and you look up at Loki. He is staring at you with surprise that quickly turns to rage. He picks you up by the throat, flinging you at another wall and into a puddle.

“HOW DID YOU DO THAT? MIDGAURDIANS DON’T HAVE MAGIC!” he yells.

You sit up and say, “There was once a war between two places called Asguard and Jonthiem. The Jontuns were a cruel race that only wished to destroy everything in their path. The Asguardians had to stop them. When the Asguardians won, a lone Jontun escaped to Midguard. He lived there for a long time, killing as he pleased. But, later on, a secret organization called S.H.I.E.L.D. found out what he was, but before they could catch him, he put a spell on a woman and got her pregnant. The Jontun was killed and the woman brought to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Hospital. The pregnancy was rough and she died in child birth.” You look up into Loki’s enamored eyes. He puts down his glow-stick-of-destiny spear. He is captivated by your story, and he bends down to be closer to your level.

You continue, “S.H.I.E.L.D. didn’t know what to do with her. Phil loved her immediately and wanted to be as much a father figure as possible. Fury was fine with whatever decision was made. Tony came to think of this girl as kind of the step-sister he got along with, and the first time Steve met her, he acted like the perfect big brother. Natasha and Clint both were willing to train the girl when they weren’t too busy. But the council and that idiotic Thor,” you hear a small snicker from Loki as you tell him your opinion of his stupid brother, “all thought that she should be eliminated. They all thought that I was trouble, especially Thor. He had seen Jontuns before. His own brother had turned evil when he found out the truth.”

You look up at Loki. “I followed you because I saw me in your eyes. I was raised by a false family, just as you were. I am part Jontun, so I understand the pain of being different. But most importantly, I want to prove myself. I want to prove that I am strong, and brave, and that I can be anything I want.”

Loki stands and reaches out a hand to you. You take it and he helps you up. As soon as you are standing, he wraps his arms around you and forces his lips onto yours. You stand in shock for a moment. After all, although you wanted nothing more than to kiss him, all you had been trying to do was tell him of your loyalty. But soon, you wrap your fingers into his raven hair and kiss him back His warm tongue commands entrance to your mouth, and you allow him to explore. He pushes you back against the wall, and slides his hands slightly under your shirt. Oh his icy hands feel so good! But, all too soon, he pulls away and presses his forehead to yours.

“I must go now. I have to speak to the… well, let’s call him a person… the person that gave me the ‘spear thingy’,” he whispers. He steps back and begins to walk away. He pauses and turns back just a little to look at you. “I never thought anybody would understand my pain. I love you, (y/n).” You walk up and slip you hand into his, giving it a small squeeze.

“I love you to, Loki,” you whisper into his ear. As you both walk out of the small room, you can’t help but feel that your life will never be complete without Loki.

So this is my first fanfic... ever... not just with Loki but ever... so tell me honestly what you think

Also, let's keep the comments clean please ;)

Loki'd La

So I see that maybe I finished it kind of fast... but that was actually how I wanted it. She is in utter shock that Loki is kissing her. Loki thought he was all alone and when he found the one person to truly understand... instant soul mates. Also it was late at night and I just thought "Let's have a 'deus ex machina' in there."

{EDIT} So people have been asking for another so here yalls go! twil0ver99.deviantart.com/art/…
